There is a world of difference between hearing the sound from your computer on your computer speakers and hearing it amplified through your stereo system. This cable allows you to connect the output on your sound card or DVD card to a hi-fi amplifier, e.g. to the AUX, TAPE or VIDEO input on the amplifier. Never use the PHONO (record player) input!
